Decriptor,
When do we build the next image ??3.8 is almost out
@Ravi Maybe this weekend. I’m actually waiting for 11.2 to be available on susestudio.
Hi Guys,
Is anyone still working on the next appliance?
@Louis The next version is definitely planned. I’m just waiting for finals to be over this semester. My last one is next Tuesday, so in about a weeks time I’ll be working on the next version. It will hopefully have some improvements such as a more default repository for packages instead of one of my repositories, ifolder 3.8, openSUSE 11.2 (so tons of updated packages), and any other fixes I get the chance to add.
Brilliant 🙂
Just for anyone else that is trying with the current appliance – it does not boot with ESX 4 (VSPHERE), even after the disk is converted and it is imported. This is not something that is wrong with the appliance as it worked fine with ESX 3.5. I am still looking into this and if I manage to fix it I will post solution here.
Thanks for doing this! I just got ifolder 3.8 working on opensuse 11.1, but it was a painful process and I’m not looking forward to upgrading or reinstalling.
Just some feedback – the VSphere problem was scsi card related. Switch the scsi card to buslogic. Let the VM sit for a while it will eventually boot and after this it should work fine….
Seren, I am struggling to make it work on openSUSE 11.1, how did you manage? I have tried it on SLES11, openSUSE 11.2, openSUSE 11.1, all unsuccessfull…
Working scripts to build iFolder client on Ubuntu 9.10 and Simias server on Ubuntu 9.04.
Download and test, might work on other distributions once you sort out the dependencies.
Quasi automagic on Ubuntu, you have to answer a few questions but the scripts do most of the work for you.
Download the scripts at:

Can someone PRETTY PLEASE, just create an iFolder appliance, (I don’t case if it’s 32 or 64bit) on ANY distro EXCEPT SuSE.
I hate SuSE Linux with a passion, it’s totally non-standard and Novell have abandoned it.
CentOS or Ububtu would be fine!
@Henry, I don’t plan on creating an appliance on something other than openSUSE or maybe even SLES. They have a great web based system for creating appliance that makes this very easy as well as ifolder being tested and provided by Novell for openSUSE and SLES.
Sorry to hear you hate openSUSE or SUSE in general. However, you are grossly inaccurate with respect to Novell having abandoned it. I for one am paid by Novell among many many others to work on it exclusively. They have vested a lot of money into Linux and openSUSE.
Any chance I can get at least a copy of the 0.0.9 Appliance? The current download link is expired.
It would be good to see 3.8 ready 🙂 Please
I’ve started one. I have some changes and tests to run, but I might be able to at the very least publish a beta version 🙂
I would love to test I been running the old 3.7 version for some time now and love it.
Hi there,
I am a bit of a Noob to ifolder and I downloaded and installed your VMware version of openSUSE and iFolder. I went through each install screen eventually till it asked me for a host name which I changed to ‘mike’ and a domain of ‘site’. Everything went good and I put a user name of ‘root’ and password of ‘ifolder’. ALL GOOD. After that I got a message that said “Have a lot of fun…”
My question is what do i do now ?? I have installed the ifolder client on my machine in aprehention of getting this thing to work, Only what would I put in as the domain when it asks and do i us the same user name and password. Additionally is there anything i should be doind with the server apart from watch it now saying: INIT: ID “x0″ respawning to fast: disabled for 5 minute”
The client and everything are all on the same machine.
I have to say I much appreciate the time and effort you have put into this.
Thanks
Mike
